To enable students to develop clinical reasoning skills in a low-risk environment; To enable students to identify what they already know that is pertinent and to challenge students to recognize the need for additional facts, skills and conceptual understanding; To enable students to integrate basic and applied knowledge from previously taught courses, facilitating interdisciplinary integration; To set a context for the acquisition of knowledge applicable to future requirements for case management and problem solving; To enable students to structure knowledge in a clinical context by developing an integrated, progressive and consistent approach to cases; To enhance students’ ability to work in a cooperative manner and to introduce students to the positive aspects of cooperative small-group learning; To motivate students in their clinical years and to increase their enthusiasm for learning; To encourage students to assume more responsibility for their education and to develop their self-learning skills

The purpose of this 7-day academic program is to provide advanced clinical training in bovine theriogenology. After finishing this program, it is anticipated that the participating veterinary students will be able to execute problem solving skills to provide added value veterinary service with evidence and population based approach veterinary reproductive medicine. The program includes combination of didactic lectures, discussions, group exercises, labs and experiential learning, and demonstration of applied clinical procedures. This program will promote student’s interactive capability, critical thinking and problem solving knowledge and help them to apply evidence based veterinary reproductive medicine modalities. The program includes reproductive physiology, reproductive pharmacology, evidence based approach to peripartum disorders, advanced breeding management including estrus and ovulation synchronization, male reproductive evaluation, applied reproductive technologies including reproductive ultrasonography and embryo transfer, and real case scenario and problem solving. The program also prepare students to understand the importance of evidence based veterinary medicine including discussion on how to perform literature review and extrapolate information from the literature for field application.
